HELM Audio Launches THX Certified DB12 AAAMP Mobile Headphone Amplifier Featuring THX AAA Technology

June 2 2020, 00:20
HELM and THX have partnered to design the new THX Certified for Android HELM DB12 AAAMP, a mobile headphone amplifier powered by highly praised THX Achromatic Audio Amplifier (THX AAA) technology already featured in several successful products. After unveiling the portable headphone amplifier at CES 2020 (receiving a CES 2020 Innovation Honoree Award), HELM announced that it was launching the DB12 AAAMP exclusively on Drop, the community-driven commerce company formerly known as Massdrop, now also a product design company targeting technology enthusiasts.

Like THX, (which is now owned by Razer, the gaming accessories company), HELM Audio has partnered with Drop, to offer a limited quantity of their groundbreaking product in a 25%-off launch promotion. Instead of $199.99 (MSRP), the HELM DB12 AAAMP is now available on Drop for $149.

Extremely compact and light, the HELM DB12 AAAMP mobile headphone amplifier plugs to a 3.5mm jack on any mobile device that still has one, boosting the analog audio signal of the mobile device to any pair of 3.5mm headphones. Thanks to the THX AAA chip, the HELM DB12 AAAMP provides +12 dB of volume gain, plus an optional user-controlled +6 dB bass boost.

And because it only connects using an analog jack, instead of using an USB-C or Lightning connector - which could also power the device - the DB12 AAAMP mobile headphone amplifier needs to have a built-in battery, which holds over six hours of play time, but of course also needs to be charged.

"Working together with our partner in audio innovation, THX, we have infused the HELM DNA with some of the latest and greatest audio technologies on the market to create a world-class mobile headphone amplifier," says Eric Johnson, CEO of HELM Audio.

HELM also recently announced its HELM Triple Driver True Wireless earbuds ($149.99), the HELM MQA Adapter Mobile DAC ($99.99) and the HELM Electrostatic Hybrid True Wireless earbuds ($199.99).

"HELM Audio's new DB12 AAAMP Mobile Headphone Amplifier represents more than a year of collaboration which has resulted in a best-of-class in-line amplifier that brings our premium THX AAA experience to mobile consumer," says Jason Fiber, general manager and senior vice president, Mobile, THX Ltd.
