GN Hearing Expands Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast Support

August 8 2024, 05:10
Building on the existing ReSound Nexia and Beltone Serene platform, the GN Group announced its smallest wireless In-the-Canal (ITC) hearing aid in a non-rechargeable design, and a new wireless rechargeable CROS Behind-the-Ear (BTE) solution, both of which connect to Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast audio sources. In addition, GN is now offering the world's first remote microphone with Auracast, which also acts as an Auracast Assistant.

The Danish audiology group announced the expansion of the ReSound Nexia family, and the equivalent Beltone Serene, giving more options for people with hearing loss to benefit from advanced hearing technology, while joining the "next era" of Bluetooth connectivity.

Following its release in October 2023, the ReSound Nexia/Beltone Serene products quickly established itself as one of GN's most successful hearing aid families ever, with users reporting higher satisfaction and hearing care professionals confirming an improvement to acceptance rate, compared with GN legacy products.

Complementing the existing portfolio, GN now launched an ITC and a new wireless rechargeable CROS BTE solution, to support different hearing needs and preferences. The two products are also LE Audio and Auracast enabled to give even more people with hearing loss access to the most advanced technology.

In addition, GN introduced the world's first remote microphone with Auracast. As well as supporting Telecoil, FM systems, and DAI/direct audio input, the new ReSound/Beltone Multi-Mic+ is designed to support users in challenging listening environments, including distances and noisy acoustics. The technology in the new Multi-Mic+ boosts signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) by at least 10.6 dB compared to adaptive directionality for better hearing in noisy environments.

Designed to work seamlessly with ReSound Nexia and Beltone Serene hearing aids, the Multi-Mic+ will help individuals with hearing loss navigate noisy environments by amplifying the voices of one or multiple speakers while still allowing them to hear other sounds around them. Thanks to Auracast, the Multi-Mic+ enables users to stay connected to news and entertainment wherever they are. With a push of a button, the device acts as an Auracast Assistant to select audio streams that are sent directly to the user's hearing aids at their preferred volume.

In addition to the new models, GN is launching its updated hearing aid fitting software, ReSound Smart Fit 2.0, for a more intuitive and efficient experience for both hearing care professionals and hearing aid users. The new updated software ensures hearing care professionals get a more intuitive and personalized fitting experience, in even fewer clicks, with a significantly improved user interface.

Hearing care professionals consistently rank fitting software as the most critical tool for achieving hearing aid user satisfaction. In fact, up to 55% of a hearing aid fitting consultation is spent in the software which can be complex to navigate, slow to load and requiring many clicks. The new ReSound Smart Fit 2.0 delivers a 33-second improvement in clickthrough speed and a 62% click reduction when selecting preferences and settings.

The ReSound Smart Fit 2.0 fitting software and new ReSound Nexia styles, along with the equivalent Beltone Solus Max software and Beltone Serene models, will be available in US and Germany from August 22, 2024.
