Eleven Engineering SKAA-Enabled USB-C Transmitters Are Now iPhone Compatible

When it comes to robust, reliable, one-to-many, wireless audio transmission without compromise, there's a company from Canada that, for more than a decade, offers a complete solution that remains a sort of secret weapon in the audio and consumer electronics industries. That company is Eleven Engineering, Inc., and the technology is known as SKAA, which is now about to become far more easy to use. The reason is Apple's iPhone migration to USB-C connectors, making it possible to just plug-in a SKAA transmitter.

Eleven Engineering offers semiconductor products for wireless audio that can be applied for home theater, multiroom, portable, professional, 12 Volt (car, truck, motorcycle, power sports, marine) and gaming applications. And yet, only a handful of companies actually benefit from its incredible SKAA technology, which offers a complete stack of ready to implement solutions for any to the described use cases.

Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Eleven Engineering designs microprocessors SiPs (System in Package) and modules for wireless audio, leveraging its XInC2 multithreaded processor. This is a unique silicon solution, designed specifically for digital wireless audio applications but also well suited for other realtime intensive microprocessor applications.

Eleven's high-performance wireless audio semiconductors, equipped with XInC2 wireless processor cores, support high-quality digital wireless audio transport. The transport uses WFD, Eleven's proprietary wireless audio transport protocol, which has a narrow footprint in the radio spectrum, delivering both best-in-class coexistence with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and offering unparalleled Quality of Service.

Eleven Engineering began introducing SKAA wireless audio transmitters with USB-C connectors in early 2018, benefiting from the advanced data specification, power delivery capabilities, and wide compatibility. With the recent announcement that Apple is finally converting its last - but by far largest - part of its ecosystem to the USB-C connector standard, that also means that the iPhone 15 and all future models are now SKAA-compatible, as well.

"Our SKAA-Enabled Cassandra transmitter with USB-C connector was launched nearly six years ago, and Apple is finally catching up," explains Rex Whitehead, Eleven Engineering executive vice president, sales & marketing. "We read the tea leaves back in 2017 as the industry was beginning to migrate from micro USB to USB-C, and our Cassandra transmitter was our first with a USB-C connector that embraced that new trend. Ideal for charging and transmitting data more effectively and quicker than micro USB, Cassandra has set the benchmark for the new desired and practical connector ever since. Now, SKAA is the ideal choice for all phones, tablets, and laptops which utilize a USB-C port, including Apple products."

Additional Cassandra SKAA transmitter feature and specifications include the ability to send audio to up to four receivers, working with all apps running on the device. Users can also leverage up to five SKAA transmitters in the same area without any interference with transmitter to receiver range covering up to 15 meters (50 feet) indoor range. Best of all, SKAA requires no pairing, and the latency is extremely low, as required for professional audio and AV applications. With SKAA, the receivers (speakers / headphones) are in charge of selecting which transmitter to listen to. There’s no pairing.

"SKAA's USB-C transmitter ensures seamless connectivity, bringing a new level of audio excellence to your iPhone experience," Whitehead continues. "Say hello to high-fidelity, low-latency sound!"

The USB-C Cassandra transmitter ships with SKAA OS 2.4, and works with all receivers running SKAA OS 2.1 or newer. SKAA transmitters work with iOS and Android mobile devices, Mac & Windows computers, televisions, and just about any product with a line output or a headphone jack. SKAA is also available as a built-in technology not requiring an external transmitter in purpose-designed partner products, which are featured at SKAA.com. SKAA navigates hostile environments saturated in wireless traffic with best-in-class reliability, and delivers uninterrupted audio with the highest sound quality to all speakers without the latency that is inherent in other wireless solutions.

As anyone that experienced products that work with SKAA already knows, the technology is extremely easy to use. All compatible products are ready to play right out of the box. "It’s also highly flexible, being compatible with a fantastic breadth of audio sources. Plus, SKAA receivers can effortlessly switch from source to source with rock-solid reliability, great range, and CD-quality sound," concludes Whitehead.
