Currently the strongest growth product segment in consumer electronics, true wireless technology is advancing fast but the category remains a crowded and highly competitive space. Short after the announcement of its flagship Melomania Touch earbuds, British audio brand Cambridge Audio updated its first TWS design, launched originally in June 2019. The new Melomania 1+ true wireless earbuds keep the compact form factor and a competitive price, and gained updated technology and app control features.
The new Melomania 1+ design takes the excellent performance of Cambridge Audio’s first ever true wireless earbuds, Melomania 1, up a level – by adding app control, customizable EQ settings and an innovative High Performance Audio Mode. The true wireless design features Bluetooth 5 technology and supports AAC and aptX codecs. The earbuds also now feature USB-C fast charging - removing one of the critical drawbacks of the original as audioXpress anticipated - and now include more memory foam ear tips for greater comfort and secure fit.
Essentially, the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1+ earbuds are designed for users mainly concerned with music listening on the go, allowing to enjoy hearing every detail, and nuance in their favorite songs, thanks to the high-quality 5.8mm graphene-enhanced drivers. Being extremely compact, they are also built for daily use, with a super lightweight design that offers a seamless experience, whatever the activity.
With each earbud weighing just 4.6g and IPX5 certification protecting them against rain and sweat, the Melomania 1+ earbuds can be worn for hours on end throughout the day. Charging the Melomania 1+ earbuds is now quicker than ever thanks to the inclusion of USB-C on the charging case. This makes it easy to top up the earbuds’ battery level when on the move. The Melomania 1+ design offers nine hours of battery life on a single earbud charge, while the charging case offers four times that.
The new Melomania 1+ earbuds are also compatible with the new Melomania app, which unlocks valuable new features. With the free app, users can customize EQ setting and personalize the sound of the earbuds. The Melomania app – available for iOS and Android devices – allows users to check the battery level of each earbud, locate misplaced earbuds on a map, and receive firmware updates to take advantage of future user experience improvements.
Inside the Melomania 1+ earbuds are the same original 5.8mm graphene-enhanced drivers, ensuring superior dynamics and response. The Melomania 1+ earbuds also now benefit from the inclusion of Cambridge Audio’s High Performance Audio Mode, a world-first in true wireless in-ears, using improved amplification that delivers a higher dynamic range, wider soundstage, and lower noise levels than before, when in the default sound mode. It’s a high level of audio fidelity that Cambridge Audio believes will be convincing at this price point.
The Melomania 1+ true wireless earbuds are available now, priced at USD $139.95 or EUR €129.95, and come in black or a new white finish. Now including both medium and large size memory foam ear tips to ensure a secure fit, and multiple ear tip options which offer the perfect combination of excellent noise isolation, a comfortable fit, and better sound quality overall.
