Atonemo is executing on what appears to be a simple idea. It doesn't make much sense to include streaming and wireless modules in expensive speakers or amplifiers, given the speed that those digital technologies are evolving. Unless those modules can be easily replaced (as some brands are doing), consumers risk being tied to not only ecosystems, but risk having old speakers become obsolete when something better comes along - and with Bluetooth, UWB, and Wi-Fi evolving so fast, this is certain to happen very soon.
Also, according to the Swedish startup, if you are able to mix and match your clothes, why not do the same with audio equipment? With the Streamplayer concept, Atonemo is allowing speaker brands to focus on designing great speakers and allow consumers to pick the streaming and wireless technology they choose, when they choose, knowing that their equipment will remain totally compatible. That makes sense.
"Many speaker brands are masters of sound and design, but they’re not tech companies. Many struggle with streaming technology, forcing users into closed ecosystems or outdated connectivity," Atonemo correctly states. "We believe that speakers should be chosen for their sound, not their software.
With the Streamplayer, any speaker or device with analog or digital input can now support the latest streaming services, multiroom audio, and smart home integration — without extra clutter or forced subscriptions".
One problem with this strategy seems to be that there are already many streaming solutions in the market that allow consumers to do exactly what Atonemo describes. And in fact, there is already both an entry-level and a premium segment of streaming players created precisely for that reason. What is surprising is how the Streamplayer is a compact device, engineered to provide an effortless, high-quality audio experience in the simplest form, starting with the fact that it is powered over USB-C - something that many audio companies continue to disregard, not understanding the clear benefits.
As a wirelessly connected streaming player, the Atonemo design supports streaming from Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, YouTube Music, and more, with native integration via AirPlay 2 and Google Cast for iOS and Android users. With Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, LE Audio and Auracast capabilities, it ensures all options for wireless streaming. The compact (70x50x19 mm) Streamplayer supports direct streaming from Spotify Connect or Tidal Connect, and will offer future Roon Ready integration. It is also Smart Home ready, working with Google Home and Apple HomeKit.
As the company also explains, while Atonemo offers a dedicated app, its role is intentionally minimal — limited to setup, grouping, and equalizer adjustments. "There are no unnecessary distractions, reskinned streaming services, or clutter. The focus is on an intuitive, seamless experience that just works," they explain.

Atonemo's founder and CEO, Leo Ballesteros, saw a gap in the market for his Streamplayer. "Speakers should be about sound and design — Atonemo takes care of the rest. We’re here to breathe new life into all the beautiful speakers, amplifiers, and systems already out there, ensuring they remain timeless while embracing modern technology."
As part of its launching plan, Atonemo has appointed Apex Audio Group to lead sales and distribution initiatives in the United Kingdom and to build and scale the product's distribution strategy internationally. This collaboration assumes that Atonemo products will reach specialist retailers, integrators, and resellers. Those interested in becoming a distributor or reseller of the Streamplayer can email Andy Oattes from Apex or call +44 7917 714133.
