Ascendo Immersive Audio will debut The10 Passive LED Phantom Voice speaker during CEDIA Expo 2024. This versatile new speaker was created to meet the growing demand for high-quality sound in shallow and narrow spaces, making it a perfect companion for LED cinema screens from leading brands like LG, Samsung, Quantum Media Systems, Christie, Barco, and others, as well as non-perforated or near-field projection screens.
According to Ascendo, the new speaker design was optimized for seamless integration with a 12-degree wedge shape, ensuring adequate sound coverage in theaters with one to three rows of seating. The "Phantom" in the speaker's name isn't just for show — it refers to the stereo phantom image, which can be adjusted vertically using DSP. This allows users to position the voice exactly where it belongs: at the center of the screen in an immersive audio experience. Whether in a home cinema or a professional screening room, The10 Passive LED Phantom Voice speaker ensures every seat is the best seat in the house.
"This new narrow, angled design opens up a world of possibilities. Whether you need a high-performance top speaker, wide speaker, or high speaker layer, The10 Passive LED Phantom Voice adapts to your needs," says Todd Sutherland of Sutherland AV Marketing, distributor of Ascendo in the United States and Canada. "It’s even ideal for traditional surround sound setups, enhancing your audio experience from every angle."
Installation is simple with the included mounting brackets, allowing for ceiling- or wall-mounting at any angle. Additionally, keyhole wall mounts on the top and back of the speaker provide even more flexibility in positioning.
"The10 Passive LED Phantom Voice promises to deliver unparalleled sound quality for anywhere near its price of $2,300, perfect for any home theater setup," says Geoffrey Heinzel, Ascendo co-managing partner. "We are excited to introduce this new version of our incredibly popular model The10 at CEDIA Expo, and invite attendees to experience this amazingly versatile solution in Sound Room 3 as balancing screen speakers in conjunction with our Director in-ceiling speakers."
Ascendo Immersive Audio will debut The10 Passive LED Phantom Voice speaker during CEDIA Expo, September 5–7, at the Colorado Convention Center. Ascendo will demonstrate The10 Passive LED Phantom Voice with Ascendo's new flagship Director LED Wall in-ceiling speakers. Positioned below a Seymour-Screen Excellence Ambient Visionaire Black screen, three of these The10s will serve as balancing speakers mirroring Director models above the screen. Working together, The10s and the Directors lower the perceived phantom sound source so that voice and dialogue sound as though they are emanating from the center of the screen.
Ascendo was founded in 1999 in Stuttgart by Norbert Heinz, Stefan Köpf, and Jürgen Scheuring. Initially focused on DSP, audio networking, and measurement systems, Ascendo evolved into Ascendo Immersive Audio GmbH with Geoffrey Heinzel as co-managing partner. Ascendo specializes in state-of-the-art home theater systems, including its infrasonic subwoofers, leveraging decades of research into human sound perception.
