July 19 2024, 00:20
Altec Lansing, the consumer brand that is now part of Infinity Brands, launched its new portable EverythingProof speaker lineup called the Hydra 2.0 series. Designed for active music enthusiasts, these affordable speakers, ranging from $24.99 - $149.99, offer versatile MountIt, ClipIt and StickIt options, with enhanced battery life and sound quality. There's a model for every use, all remarkable examples of pushing the limits of modern technology, and all speakers continue to be sand, dust, shock and waterproof.

A carabiner "clip" to attach to a backpack, a built-in magnet that lets you "stick" the speaker to any metal surface, a mounting screw at the bottom which connects to the included speaker "mount" allowing it to attach to bicycle handle bars, golf carts, ATVs, etc., and even a bungee cord option for the back of a truck tailgate at the big game. All these are options available in Altec Lansing's latest EverythingProof Hydra 2.0 portable speaker lineup.

A remarkable case of global product management, involving engineers, product designers, product managers and ODM/OEMs spread across the globe, this new product lineup Altec Lansing shows how to do miracles with the bare minimum. On the speaker design front, it also serves to show how a bit of DSP magic – combined in some cases with passive radiators – can make a portable compact speaker sound decent or way better than most people imagine would be possible.

All the new-generation Hydra 2.0 portable speakers also have an IP67 waterproof rating and float in the water – perfect for pool and beach use – and now also feature a built-in 6-degree pedestal base for optimal audio dispersion, and a Party Sync feature for pairing over 100 speakers. As the Hydra 2.0 "EverythingProof" portable speaker lineup hits store shelves at major retailers across the US, Altec Lansincg will reinforce its reputation for products with exceptional sound and unmatched durability.

All these products made its "concept" debut during CES 2024. The ideal forum to gather feedback from leading retailers and distributors, who have praised the new mount it, clip it, stick it capabilities. Select Hydra 2.0 portable speakers even feature a built-in magnet that allows users to stick them to metal surfaces. These features now pair well with the rugged DNA of the brand with its continued sand, dust and waterproof ability for users to enjoy tunes wherever they want – ugly but robust.

"The next-gen Hydra 2.0 lineup delivers life-like audio to listeners of all ages and any lifestyle, bringing the historic Altec Lansing brand to the forefront of audio technology," says Ike S. Franco, founder and CEO of Infinity Brands, the parent company of Altec Lansing - a large investment and brand licensing group.

This new EverythingProof Hydra 2.0 speaker lineup also makes the best use of USB-C and Power Delivery, and Qi wireless charging, allowing the speaker to be charged while playing music, and with some models even featuring a charging pad for smartphones. Those  features alone, add an incredible value to these products.

Included in the Hydra 2.0 lineup we find the new small and lightweight HydraTrek, with six hours of battery life; the HydraMini 2.0, a new and improved version of the original number one selling Bluetooth speaker under $40, which is now 30% larger, and has double the battery life of the original; or the Hydra Active, a sports armband speaker with a built-in fitness tracker with access to Google Voice and Siri voice assistant.

Similar to the HydraMini 2.0, the new HydraWave also has a carabiner clip, and bungee cord to take it along for any activity. The HydraMotion 2.0 is a cylindrical design with 16 hours of battery life and LED lights, while the HydraJolt 2.0 features a multicolor LED light mode and Party Sync. The HydraBlast 2.0 features the longest playtime of the series at 24 hours, and with quick charge via USB-C or Qi wireless charging.

The new HydraBoom 2.0, is the one for those who want a little more bass in their life – with higher output power, a tweeter and woofer – and also Party Sync. Finally, the HydraShock 2.0 combines the best qualities of the bunch – the added power of the HydraBoom 2.0, the LED lights and Party Sync comparable to the HydraJolt 2.0 and USB-C quick charge and Qi wireless charging similar to the HydraBlast 2.0.

The Altec Lansing Hydra 2.0 series is now hitting store shelves at large retailers such as Walmart, Target, Sam's Club, Staples and Best Buy, as well as on Amazon. Would these make James B. Lansing proud? He would certainly be amazed!
