Naim’s Mu-so Wireless Music System adds TIDAL Support and Full Multi-Room Capability
October 5 2015, 02:00
Naim’s Mu-so wireless music system now adds TIDAL and full multiroom capability to its already rich list of features. The multi-room mode works over a standard home network, either via a wired or Wi-Fi connection. A free, three month TIDAL trial is now available through the Naim control app for all Mu-so owners and owners of Naim streaming products.
Naim’s award-winning Mu-so wireless music system has taken the audio market by storm since arriving in late 2014 at Apple Stores and other specialist audio retailers. Its combination of connectivity, style and sound quality has brought many new fans to the British company with a 40-year history in designing and manufacturing hi-fi systems.
Mu-so is Naim’s first wireless music system. Combining its expertise in streaming, amplification and loudspeaker design, Naim’s Mu-so can stream 24-bit/192kHz high resolution ‘better than CD’ quality music, as well all audio formats from Apple Lossless CD imports from iTunes to HD formats such as WAV, FLAC and AIFF, all from Apple and Android smartphones and tablets, laptops and other storage devices.
Now Mu-so adds TIDAL high-quality audio streaming support and full multi-room capability to its already rich list of features, making it an even more compelling offering for those looking for a convenient wireless music system without compromising on the listening experience. Existing owners will be able to update their units to gain the two new features using the Naim control app for iOS and Android devices. Additionally, both new and current Mu-so owners will receive a free 90-day trial of the service.
Finely tuned by their specialist engineers in England, Mu-so’s powerful audio brain delivers 450 watts of power through six custom-designed speakers. The design features a striking solid extruded aluminium heat sink across its length, designed to maximize thermal performance and boost wireless connectivity. The embedded Wi-Fi antenna system features two hidden printed-circuit slot antennae, one between the bass drivers and one inside the rear heatsink, work in combination with a dual-channel diversity receiver.
The internal speaker cabinet is wooden for acoustic performance while the aluminium skin offers extra dampening for a distortion free sound. The silk dome tweeters in mu-so replace traditional metal cones found in many wireless speakers and share the same materials as high-end hi-fi speakers. The standard speaker grille can be detached and replaced with three optional color variations.
Mu-So’s advanced yet simple to use connectivity includes AirPlay, UPnP streaming, Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Bluetooth (aptX), iRadio, iOS and Android app control and multi-room capability. Mu-so multi-room works over a standard home network, either via a wired or Wi-Fi connection. The user simply selects a single Mu-so as the multi-room master using the Naim app for iOS and Android devices, to stream music to other Mu-so wireless music systems in up to four additional rooms in perfect-sync.
Mu-so has won the EISA Award for Best Compact Hi-Fi system in September 2015 and the Red Dot Award 2015: Product Design. Mu-so is available from Naim’s network of specialist audio retailers, as well as select Apple stores / apple.com and retails for $1,499 USD.
