Brand new for Prolight+Sound 2016 from the Florence, Italy, speaker specialist B&C Speakers, the new 21” 21DS115 subwoofer introduces a new four layer, aluminum voice coil design with demodulating ring that the company says will offer significant improvements. There’s also the new 10MBX64 10-inch LF driver and new DE990TN and DE1090TN super-compact neodymium magnet compression drivers.
B&C Speakers will introduce its new 21DS115, a 3400 watt, 99dB efficient subwoofer, utilizing a unique four layer, aluminum voice coil with demodulating ring that offers a significant improvement in motor strength over previous 115mm coil offerings. This new 21” LF driver will respond from 30 - 1000 Hz with a 60 mm peak-to-peak excursion before damage. The neodymium magnet allows a very high force factor and linear excursion, while the double silicone spider with optimized compliance and ventilated voice coil gap help reducing power compression and low distortion.
The MBX series midbass woofer range also has a new big brother, with the introduction of the 10MBX64. With the success of the 6MBX44 and 8MBX51, introduced in spring 2015, the 10MBX64 was a natural progression for B&C Speakers. This high efficiency, high output, wide bandwidth woofer offers an alternative that is not currently available in the B&C Speakers range. The 10MBX64 10-inch LF driver is rated for 700 W continuous program power capacity with a 65 to 6000 Hz response and 99 dB efficiency. It uses a neodymium inside slug magnet assembly with a 64 mm (2.5 in) aluminum voice coil, aluminum demodulating ring and ventilated voice coil gap for reduced power compression.
B&C is also now shipping the DE990TN and DE1090TN, 1.4” exit, inside ring, super-compact neodymium magnet compression drivers. These drivers offer loudspeaker designers the benefits of a large diaphragm, in a uniquely small package with wider frequency response, higher power handling, transparent high frequency performance and more. The DE990TN is rated for 200 W continuous program power capacity and features a CCAW voice coil, titanium diaphragm and 500 to 18,000 Hz response with 107.5 dB sensitivity. The DE1090TN is rated for 240 W continuous program power capacity and features the same CCAW voice coil and titanium diaphragm, responding from 500 to 20,000 Hz with a 108 dB sensitivity.
B&C will also show the DE680TN 64mm diaphragm, 1.4” exit high frequency driver, 12NDL88 88mm voice coil woofer, 18RBX100 subwoofer, 8NSM64 and 5NSM38 sealed back midrange, and 3.5” and 4” broad-band woofers. All products shown at Prolight+Sound 2016 are already shipping, or will ship shortly after the fair.
