Electronic Media and Entertainment at IBC 2016

The most international Electronic Media and Entertainment Event continues to get bigger and better every year and IBC 2016 is expected to once again attract large numbers of visitors and exhibitors. The IBC Exhibition covers fifteen halls across the RAI and hosts over 1,700 exhibitors spanning the creation, management and delivery of electronic and media entertainment.

Recognized as the most international event for the electronic media and entertainment industry – in parallel with the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention held in Vegas every April – IBC takes place in Amsterdam in September every year. Attracting 55,000+ attendees from more than 170 countries, IBC combines a highly respected and peer-reviewed conference with an exhibition of state of the art electronic media technology and provides unrivaled networking opportunities.

Multiple initiatives are turning the IBC convention increasingly attractive to the industry, focusing on converging media technologies and business models in Broadcast, IT and Telecoms - increasingly in the management and multiplatform disciplines, of all forms of electronic media content.

Integral to the IBC Experience are a number of specially curated Feature Areas and events. These are hosted throughout the IBC Exhibition and tied into the IBC Conference to enrich understanding of technologies and trends that are driving the industry.

Audio exhibits, most of them concentrated in Hall 8, include a unique combination of radio technology suppliers, microphone manufacturers, recording and production solutions, including ENG systems and many unique companies in the areas of communication and wireless transmission, apart from the most important studio technology manufacturers. For those interested in learning about the latest trends in audio streaming and digital radio, including multichannel and binaural distribution, the Amsterdam is indeed a valuable opportunity.

The IBC Conference, which kicks off on the 8 September, in Amsterdam at the RAI, one day ahead of the main exhibition, includes the introduction of new streams on the future of platforms, audiences and advertising and will feature on Monday 12 September a WorldDAB-driven session titled ‘Looking to the Digital Future: Digital Switchover Progress and Plans’. The significant issues to be addressed in this session are the status of digital radio broadcasting in various countries as the DAB platform continues to spread across Europe, and specifically the commencement now of the switch-off of analogue FM radio – rather than the continued simulcasting of both analogue and digital services.

Entitled “Transformation in the Digital Era: Leadership, strategy and creativity in media and entertainment”, the conference will see more than 300 Executives sharing insights on key issues at the heart of the entertainment, media and technology sector.
“Our industry is going through dramatic changes, challenging and exciting at the same time. The conference will focus on how the entertainment and media sector is using the accelerating power of technology to transform its businesses. It will be very useful for the Content industry which has a greater level of complexity than it used to,” says Susan Elkington, Consultant Director of Content, IBC.
