
Open Control Architecture Alliance Makes Progress at AES
The OCA Alliance successfully made the case for Open Control Architecture at the 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles. The OCA Alliance made considerable progress in promoting the benefits of its proposed standards-based control and monitoring architecture for networked audio devices employing any media transport protocol. AES project “AESX210” is currently working to render OCA into a ratified AES standard.

Tascam Announces DR-70D Recorder Designed For Filmmakers At Affordable Price
Tascam introduced a new four channel professional audio recording solution for filmmakers with all the features required by television production and documentaries at a very affordable price. The new Tascam DR-70D multitrack recorder features new HDDA microphone preamps and integrated mixer, line/camera in and out for synchronization and records up to 96kHz/24-bit WAV and BWF files.

Digmoda DPSW1000 Subwoofer Amplifier and DSP Software
KSC’s Digmoda line of DSP-programmable digital amplifiers and D-Pro software was originally featured in Voice Coil’s July 2008 issue. Audix Celebrates 30 Years with Special Edition D6 Microphone
Audix Corporation has unveiled a special limited edition D6 microphone to mark the company’s 30 year anniversary. The Audix D6 was first introduced to the music industry in 2005 and is considered one of the most influential kick drum mics ever made. This special edition D6 microphone features a limited edition finish. Only 750 have been produced, all look different and are numbered and serialized.

Meyer Sound Names John McMahon New VP of Solutions and Strategy
Meyer Sound Laboratories, Inc. has appointed John McMahon to the newly created position of Vice President of Solutions and Strategy, working closely with CEO John Meyer and Executive Vice President Helen Meyer. McMahon joined Meyer Sound in 2005 during the acquisition of Level Control Systems (LCS Audio) where he served as CEO.

Roland M-5000 Live Mixing Console Introduces New Dante and Waves SoundGrid Platform
Roland announced its latest generation of Live Mixing Consoles. The Roland M-5000 is the first from a new generation of live sound solutions for audio professionals using the O.H.R.C.A platform - Open, High Resolution, Configurable Architecture. The M-5000 has two expansion card slots to support audio transport protocols such as Dante, MADI, Waves SoundGrid, as well as future formats.

Behringer X Air Series Takes Stage Box Format Mixers Mainstream
We’ve recently seen a series of announcements from Mackie and PreSonus introducing digital stage box format mixers - basically replacing the physical control surfaces with iPads and wireless control. In a way, challenging the tremendous success of the very affordable but extremely powerful Behringer X32 digital console family. In response, Behringer now announced its own X Air Series stage box format mixers.

Genelec Expands Smart Active Monitoring Range with 8320 and 8330 Monitors and 7350 Subwoofer
Gradually, Genelec has updated his monitor series with Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) auto-calibrating systems. Along with the advanced concept recently introduced in the new 8351 Acoustically Coaxial Smart Active Monitor, at the recent 137th AES convention, Genelec also introduced the new 8320 and 8330 compact monitors and a SAM subwoofer, 7350.

MOTU Expands AVB Interface Range with 24-Channel Units
In July 2014, Mark of The Unicorn (MOTU) surprised the industry announcing a range of USB/Thunderbolt audio interfaces complemented with Audio Video Bridging (IEEE 802.1 AVB) network technology. Since AVB requires the use of dedicated (AVB-certified) routers and switchers, MOTU also announced its own AVB Switch. Now, MOTU reinforced the range with two new AVB 24-channel interfaces.
