Genelec Introduces Revolutionary 8351 Smart Active Monitor at 137th AES Convention

Certainly one of the major highlights at the 137th AES Convention in LA, Genelec’s new 8351 Acoustically Coaxial three-way Smart Active Monitor is one of the most innovative speaker designs seen in recent years. The surprisingly compact 8351 features major advances in audio driver technology integrated into a sophisticated enclosure design.

Debuting at this year’s Rocky Mountain Audio Festival/Can Jam show will be the new PX-5HS Hi-Fi speaker system and model TH500RP headphones from Fostex. Based on Fostex’ best selling studio monitor headphones T-series, the TH500RP are premium planar type headphones designed for hi fi audio listening. The PX-5HS is a 2-way Active Hi-Fi Speaker System, based on the Fostex professional reference monitor PX-5, carefully tuned to to deliver comfortably natural and clear sound to any listening room.

British loudspeaker manufacturer PMC is showcasing 9.1 audio Demonstrations at the PMC Masters of Audio demo suite, during the 137th AES Convention, being held in the Los Angeles Convention Center from October 9-12, 2014. The show will be also an important one for the company, since PMC will be publicly exhibiting its new QB1 Active, a large-scale, ultra-high-resolution main studio monitor with analogue and digital (up to 192kHz) inputs.

Apogee Electronics is using the 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles - close to its headquarters in Santa Monica, California - to introduce the new Ensemble recording interface. The sucessor of the original Apogee Ensemble, released in 2007, is now a powerful 30x34 Thunderbolt 2 audio interface which Apogee says, at only 1.1ms, is the lowest round-trip latency performance available in any all-in-one audio interface.

Another major product launch from Antelope Audio, at the 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles, is the new Pure2, a two-channel mastering converter from the renown manufacturer of master clocks and synchronization products. According to Antelope, the new Pure2 features best in class conversion quality, dual DAC architecture and Acoustically Focused Clocking (AFC) technology derived from Antelope's Flagship Trinity Master Clock.

The new Solid State Logic L300 can be seen for the first time at the 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles. The new SSL L300 compact live console maintains the signature sound of SSL and the power to handle large scale productions, offering a new more compact option that is perfectly suited to Touring, Installation, Houses Of Worship and Theatre. SSL is also introducing the new v2.5 software for both the L500 and L300 with new advanced FX optimisation and 27 new features and updates to the SSL Live console platform.

Analog Devices’s ADA4805 family of amplifiers featuring Dynamic Power Scaling provide best-in-class offset drift, slew rate, noise and distortion performance for portable, battery powered and high-density data acquisition equipment.

The AES and OCA Alliance will be working together at the forthcoming 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles towards the ratification of the alliance’s proposed Open Control Architecture as an AES public standard. The alliance will also be exhibiting, demonstrating the benefits of the OCA standards-based control and monitoring architecture across networked audio devices from different manufacturers.

TEAC introduced the AI-301DA Hi-Res Audio Player, a pre-main amplifier outfitted with Bluetooth, USB, support for Direct Stream Digital (DSD), and integrated Digital-to-Analog conversion. The new AI-301DA Hi-Res Audio Player delivers a dramatic sonic improvement over physical media such as vinyl, tapes, and CDs, as well as compressed audio formats.
