Texas Instruments Announces New Voice Remote Control Low Power Development Platforms
Texas Instruments announced new advanced voice remote control solutions as part of its SimpleLink ultra-low power platform. These solutions were created to help developers easily add ultra-low power Bluetooth low energy, ZigBee RF4CE or multi-standard connectivity to their designs for voice remote controls, TVs, set-top boxes, home entertainment centers and automation, wearables and smart speaker applications.
Avid Announces new 5.2 Software for its Venue S6L Live Sound Mixer and New Dante Option Card
Things move slowly at Avid, but they move. Announced at Prolight+Sound 2015 in Frankfurt, the DNT-192 Dante Option Card for the Avid Venue S6L digital live sound mixer, is now available one year after the promised shipping date. The Venue S6L started shipping end of 2015 and now receives a new free software update (5.2), which adds support for Dante network connectivity, as required by the industry, apart from several other “highly anticipated” features.

Cirrus Logic Announces Reference Platform for Lightning-Based Audio Development
With the market preparing for a major transition to digital audio connections using USB-C and Apple Lightning interfaces, audio companies are faced with a dilemma. Either they wait until the USB Implementers Forum finishes and publishes its final USB class audio specification for USB 3.1, or they start developing for Lightning-based systems, knowing that they will have an head-start and products on the market (at least for Apple’s platforms). Unveiled at Prolight+Sound 2016, beyerdynamic is now shipping its new TG MM1w interchangeable measurement microphone capsule, which can be used with the company’s TG 1000 digital wireless system. With this new measurement capsule, the TG 1000 can now be used also to calibrate ELA and PA systems. Due to the linear frequency response of the TG 1000 transmission system, the TG MM1w interchangeable microphone capsule behaves in the same way as the wired version MM1, allowing for greater freedom.
