Steven Lamar Funds ROAM Ropes Bluetooth Earphones on Kickstarter

Ropes USA are a colorful special edition of ROAM’s first product, the Ropes Bluetooth earphones, now successfully funded on Kickstarter with a $100,000 goal. Ropes’ design is somewhat reminiscent of Beats earphones and that’s probably the intention because ROAM is a company founded by Steven Lamar, an entrepreneur with a history related to Beats’ origins. The Ropes Bluetooth earphones also remind us of how early Bluetooth products looked back in 2010.

New USB Type-C Docking System Design from Texas Instruments Cuts Solution Size in Half

Texas Instruments (TI) introduced a multiport USB Type-C and Power Delivery (PD) minidock reference design that provides audio, USB data, power and video support. This new TI Designs reference design can be powered by a traditional power adapter, USB Type-C adapter or notebook computer, offering end users flexible, intelligent functionality. The reference design provides a fully tested, verified plan for a 2- by 4-inch dock, at least 50 percent smaller than existing docking solutions.

Complementing those new studio systems, Drawmer now introduced its high performance CPA-50 compact Class D amplifier, delivering 25W rms per channel into 8 ohms (50W rms per channel into 4 ohms) or working as a 100W rms into 8 ohms monoblock which allows bi-amped or bridged modes.

    In 2015, Roland announced a collaboration with lifestyle and DJ brand V-MODA, targeting fashion-conscious DJs and musicians with the M-100 AIRA headphones, combining the DJ-acclaimed V-MODA Crossfade M-100 over-ear headphones with the brand’s own AIRA range of retro-inspired electronic musical instruments. The alliance was apparently a success because Roland has decided to acquire a majority stake in V-MODA.

    Yamaha has released a software upgrade for its Nuage DAW system, featuring enhancements for Dolby Atmos surround and 3D audio production. Since its introduction in 2012, the Nuage integrated solution was adopted for commercial production applications, from audio post-production to music recording and mixing.
