
Amazon Reimagines Echo Smart Speaker Family for 2020
Amazon.com introduced its all-new line-up of Echo devices, featuring completely new designs, enhanced audio, more powerful hardware, and experiences that make Alexa voice assistant more engaging, and helpful. Most of the new Amazon products will be available at the end of October 2020, and that includes an all-new Echo (4th Gen), now with better sound and integrated smart home hub; the new Echo Dot and Echo Dot Kids Edition featuring the new spherical designs and improved audio, and Echo Show 10, the smart speaker with screen.

IsoVox Introduces IsoMic Microphone Tailored for Voice Recording With the IsoVox 2 Vocal Booth
IsoVox introduced IsoMic — a microphone technically tailored for voice recording within its innovative IsoVox 2 vocal booth, featuring four layers of acoustic materials with a patented 360 XYZ design to control sound waves from all angles. The combination, the Swedish company says, is guaranteed to capture perfect voices, thanks to the IsoMic patented triangular capsule, with an extended frequency response that delivers professional results.

SB Audience Introduces Two New Rosso 65mm Compression Drivers
SB Audience, the new brand of professional transducers manufactured by Sinar Baja Electric (SBE) in Indonesia, is introducing a completely new range of compression drivers. The range starts off with two 65mm titanium diaphragm compression drivers, both with a 1.4" throat exit. The two new Rosso compression drivers are high performance designs, available at an attractive price, and are in stock now, and under way to distributors.

Parasound Debuts Parasound ZoneMaster ZM 2 and ZM 4 Custom Installation Amplifiers
Parasound has added a pair of two-channel and four-channel power amplifiers to its ZoneMaster line for professional audio systems installers. The Parasound ZoneMaster ZM 2 and ZM 4 pack a lot of power into relatively small packages with each channel rated at 150 watts into the typical 4-ohm and 2-ohm loads of architectural speakers, and 120 watts for 8-ohm hi-fi speakers. In the hands of skilled installers, these amps can be used to resolve multi-zone design challenges and provide new opportunities.

Origin Acoustics Expands Director Collection With Two New In-Ceiling 10" Coaxial Models
Origin Acoustics introduced two new two-way coaxial speaker models to its Director Collection of premium architectural loudspeakers – the D101 and D103DT. Bigger in performance, but not in size, the two new 10" loudspeakers use Origin's unique mounting system structure, which allows looking like having smaller 8" units on the ceiling. While the aesthetics will please both client and system designers, the larger sized loudspeaker performance will stand-out in larger rooms and theaters.
Audio Engineering Society Elects Brecht De Man Director of the AES
The Audio Engineering Society’s Board of Governors (BoG) has elected Brecht De Man to assume the role of AES Director beginning January 1, 2021. Currently serving as a Governor of the AES, De Man has held various roles within the Society and continues to work as a sound engineer, educator, and member of the AES Education Committee. De Man will replace Alex Case (Past President and Membership Committee Chair) as one of two BoG-elected Directors and will serve on the Board of Directors through December 31, 2022.

Audio Product Education Institute Hosts Product Development Symposium During AES Show Fall 2020
The newly formed Audio Product Education Institute (APEI), an initiative of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), will host a three-day Product Development Symposium as part of the online events of AES Show Fall 2020. Bluetooth SIG to Begin Qualifying Products Using LC3 Codec
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) announced it will start qualifying products using the LC3 Low Complexity Communication Codec, part of the new LE Audio Specification announced at CES 2020, back in January. Even though the organization doesn't expect the rest of the specifications that define all the use cases for LE Audio to be released before mid-year 2021, manufacturers are officially encouraged to start implementing the new Fraunhofer/Ericsson codec.

CEVA and VisiSonics Offer 3D Spatial Audio Development for True Wireless Earbuds and Headphones
CEVA and VisiSonics, a developer of patented 3D spatial audio technologies, announced that the companies have collaborated closely together to develop a comprehensive 3D spatial audio solution for embedded devices, including true wireless audio (TWS) earbuds, headphones and other hearables. The collaboration combines VisiSonics' RealSpace 3D audio software optimized for CEVA’s low power audio and sensor hub DSPs together with CEVA’s MotionEngine head tracking algorithms running on its BNO080 9-axis System in Package (SiP).
