Worldwide Wearable Shipments Will Reach 344 Million by the End of 2022

Demand for wearables and accessories slowed during 2021 due to economic and geopolitical factors impacting consumer's priorities. Despite this decline, global technology intelligence firm ABI Research expects continuous growth until 2027. More than 300 million wearables devices were shipped by the end of 2021 and will reach around 344 million by the end of this year. Additionally, more than 650 million of these devices are expected to be shipped worldwide by 2027, a CAGR of 13.2% between 2022 and 2027.

Flexound Augmented Audio, the innovative haptics audio company from Finland, appointed Isak Olevic as the new CEO. Olevic, an experienced automotive and audio business executive, comes from Sweden and has a vast executive experience at Volvo, Harman International, and Ericsson. He will assume responsibilities for Flexound on January 1, 2022, succeeding Flexound co-founder Mervi Heinaro, who was recently appointed as the Deputy Mayor of the City of Espoo, Finland. IDTechEx released a new report covering the market, technology and players in hearables. The market research company uses the term "hearables" loosely to describe all true wireless devices in the consumer electronics space, but also medical devices such as hearing aids and even cochlear implants. In this overview, it finds that the market was worth $24.5bn in 2019 and will continue to grow at a forecasted 14% YoY from 2020-2025, driven primarily by the true wireless consumer category.
