Test Bench: The New D4400Ti-Nd Compression Driver from PRV Audio

Voice Coil characterizes a new compression driver from Brazilian pro sound OEM PRV Audio, a company that started operations in 2006, created by a group of former executives and engineers from one of Brazil’s most prestigious loudspeaker manufacturers, and which has not stopped producing high quality products. This edition of Test Bench looks at the D4400Ti-Nd compression driver, complemented with PRV Audio’s WGP22-50 2” bolt on 60° × 60° waveguide. The compression driver/horn that I received for testing in this edition of Test Bench was the redesigned B&C Speakers DE990TN-8, a 1.4” neodymium motor compression driver with a titanium diaphragm coupled with the ME90 horn. This article was originally published in Voice Coil, September 2016.

In this Test Bench, Voice Coil characterizes two high-end compression drivers and horns from Eminence, the N314T-8 with the H14EA horn, and the N320T-8 with the H2EA horn. Both these neodymium motor compression drivers from Eminence share pretty much the same feature set. The main difference is the N314T-8 is configured for a 1.4” throat, and the N320T-8 is configured for a 2” diameter throat. This article was originally published in audioXpress, March 2016.
