Spatial Announces Free Access to Its Spatial Studio and Spatial Reality Creator Tools

Spatial, the immersive audio software service and company founded by a team of experienced professionals from Apple, Nest, Dolby, LucasArts and Disney is announcing a simple subscription model for commercial users to apply its immersive sound platform, combined with a new free Backstage Pass for 3D sound creators. At SXSW 2022 in Austin, TX, Spatial is opening up its audio platform to creators, students, experience designers, architects, venues and more. The goal is to accelerate the creation of a 3D sound ecosystem and user community.

Following an earlier presentation at SXSW 2018, of the new Bose AR, the company's concept for an audio augmented reality platform, in the shape of glasses to hear, the Massachusetts company now announced Frames, a product combining the protection and style of premium sunglasses, the functionality and performance of wireless headphones, and the world’s first audio augmented reality platform, combined into a single product. And Bose intends to develop a family of dedicated augmented reality apps for Frames.

Volareo is another Dutch innovation that made its worldwide debut at SXSW 2018 in Austin, Texas and is directly connected with the new Musicoin, a new cryptocurrency and music streaming platform that intends to reward musicians in a different way.

An invite-only audience in Austin experienced the debut of “MQA Live”, a new way for fans to connect to musicians. Jake Isaac and his band performed from London's Rocket Studios – the first time a live performance has been streamed in real time using MQA's technology and a new reference real time MQA encoder. The performance was listened to live in an Austin home on a variety of devices to recreate everyday listening environments.

At SXSW 2018, Bose has introduced Bose AR, the company's concept for an audio augmented reality platform, in the shape of glasses to hear. According to Bose, the prototype "launches the future of mobile sound," and Bose also announced an SDK schedule date for developers, manufacturers, and research institutions, along with collaborations currently under way, and venture funding for related start-ups.

There's always a way to differentiate a new product if you really think about it and know how to leverage available technology. Japanese company Cotodama did exactly that with its Lyric Speaker, which automatically visualizes lyrics in a beautiful way. When the user chooses a song on its mobile phone, the lyrics show up on the translucent screen. This speaker has won SXSW's Best Bootstrap Company in 2015 and is now available.
