Gracenote, a Nielsen company, announced that it will power advanced music recognition for Mixcloud streaming platform, using next-generation audio fingerprinting to help identify and catalog copyrighted music within user-generated content. Using Gracenote's MusicID music recognition technology, Mixcloud will more accurately identify copyrighted audio content on its music platform to ensure proper royalty payments to rights holders.

Always looking to differentiate its music streaming service with higher quality experiences, Tidal has now adopted the loudness recommendations of Eelco Grimm, HKU University of the Arts Utrecht and Grimm Audio. In Tidal’s recent update of their iOS and Android apps, loudness normalization is now turned ON by default. With this move, Tidal follows the trend towards automatic loudness normalization that was initiated by Spotify and Youtube.

Sonos One launches with Amazon Alexa support, and Google Assistant to follow in 2018. The Sonos One is priced at $199 USD and will be available globally on Oct. 24. Claiming to be the "best of both worlds,", Amazon just announced that its Amazon Music service - that regrettably is still based on the officially discontinued highly compressed MP3 codec - is now integrated with the company's voice personal assistant, accessible directly from an updated app for iOS and Android. The service is available only in the US, UK, Germany and Austria, where Alexa is available (English and German) and allows Amazon Music users to shout for music wherever they go.
