Audiotonix Creates DJ Mixer Kit To Help Develop STEM and Audio Engineering Skills

Audiotonix, the holding company and home for some of the best mixing console brands, announced a new educational program, oriented towards fostering STEM, audio engineering, and mixing skills. The global professional audio group will launch a kit-based DJ mixer project, which will also be the first and only Audiotonix branded product, the STEAM powered DJ mixer kit - a fully working product that requires soldering PCBs.

Following the cancellation of the scheduled in-person convention and activities, the Audio Engineering Society is promoting a series of online activities in order to bring its AES Fall Online 2021 Convention to a worldwide audience. Starting Monday, October 11, with live-streamed and on-demand events continuing through the month of October, all the events are included in one registration.

The two learn-to-solder kits designed by the Audio Builders Workshop (ABW is an offshoot of the Boston Audio Engineering Society section) are now available for purchase online at CrowdSupply - a crowdfunding organization and website helping creators fund and launch products that people can build themselves and customize at will. CrowdSupply and their parent company, Mouser have been great supporters of ABW, and it was just natural that the entities would team up to offer the kits.

The Audio Builders Workshop offered an expanded program at the 2019 convention of the Audio Engineering Society, held at the Javits Convention Center in New York City, October 16-19. The culmination of this year's program was a three-hour Build Clinic on the last day of the convention. Owen Curtin and Chris Kincaid ran this session, and attendance far exceeded their expectations. There were more than 40 participants, and each person was required to purchase a kit for the session, which they assembled onsite. Participants were given a choice of three kits, depending on their level of experience - the L2A Passive Preamp, the ABW Metronome, or the S-25 microphone.

Hal Leonard published the book “Electronics Concepts, Labs, and Projects, Essential Electronics Theory for the Audio World” by Alden Hackmann. This is a complete introduction to essential theory relating to electronics principles specific to the audio world, including practical lessons on basic things from soldering to how to use an oscilloscope and function generator to diagnose circuits.
