A New Era of Sonos Speakers Starts Now

Sonos debuted Sonos Era 300 and Sonos Era 100, the company's next generation of connected, home audio speakers that also have smart features, but more importantly pave the way for a whole new chapter in sound and design innovation from the brand. The new Sonos Era 300 is a completely new design that is supposed to deliver some form of "spatial audio". The more compact Era 100 redefines the Sonos One concept with a more advanced design.

Devialet dropped another surprise product, this time with a new compact smart speaker that is also the brand's first custom-designed battery-operated multiroom wireless speaker. Inheriting technology from the unique Devialet Phantom, the new Mania features adaptive cross stereo that generates expansive 360° stereo sound, with a soundstage that morphs and adapts to any physical space. The Mania is Alexa-enabled and powered by four ARM Cortex-A53 1.4Ghz processors.

For this edition of The Audio Voice, I intended to focus a bit more on the latest developments in the fascinating world of sensors and how it impacts product development and design in all applications areas, particularly in consumer electronics, automotive, and health applications. After writing previously about Apple - the sensors on the Apple Watch and the surprising firmware updates for the AirPod Pro earbuds - I really didn't want to go back to Apple. But as always, Apple has a way of surprising us exactly when we least expected, and the company made another important audio announcement.
