This article is a detailed review of the intriguing AVAA C214 Digital Active Bass Absorber from Swiss studio monitor and high-end speaker specialist PSI Audio. The concept is more or less the same as the AVAA C20, which PSI launched in 2017. the first commercially available analog active bass trap. Now, with the AVAA C214, PSI has introduced a digital controlled active bass trap that's better suited to deal with room modes below 150Hz in listening spaces and small studios rooms. For this review, the solution was tried and tested in two different spaces and applications.

PSI Audio expanded its Active Velocity Acoustic Absorber (AVAA) concept in 2023 with the introduction of the AVAA C214 model, suitable for home audio environments. The PSI Audio booth R09 in hall 3 of the MOC Munich will feature a listening room equipped with AVAA C214 and Héritage3 high-end speakers for visitors to experience the effect of the AVAA. There will also be a special demo box to illustrate its principle outside the listening room.

Room Gain is a term not used in acoustics textbooks as such. Room acoustics is naturally often discussed in the hifi community, since the room you put your loudspeakers in will heavily influence the sound that reaches your ears, both at low and high frequencies. In these discussions the term "room gain" sometimes comes up. This article was inspired by Erik Wiederholtz (CTO of Perlisten Audio) and his interest in the topic, and he was kind enough to provide measurements and photos from his own listening room for a sealed subwoofer as well as for a vented subwoofer.

Ahnert Feistel Media Group (AFMG) in cooperation with the Audio Communications department of the Technische Universität Berlin, has recently published a set of high-resolution GLL datasets for 22 musical instruments for use in EASE 5 First Edition! The data is the result of a major project which was realized by the research group that took several years to complete. Numerous musicians have been recorded playing their instruments in an anechoic chamber using a purpose-designed spherical microphone array.
