The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) has recently released the Qi 1.3 specification that requires authentication for improved safety when transmitting up to 15W of power between a transmitter and a receiver. To meet the specification, Microchip Technology announced a new Qi 1.3 wireless charging reference design providing developers of wireless charging systems for automotive and consumer applications with the necessary tools and support for the seamless integration and certification of new-generation product designs.

QuickLogic released an Amazon-qualified QuickFeather AVS Reference Design that enables OEMs and ODMs to evaluate and develop their own smart hearable products quickly and easily. This kit integrates the Alexa voice-initiated Close-Talk experience, enabling a broad set of battery-powered applications to communicate directly with Alexa for a multitude of use cases. In addition, OEMs and ODMs can optionally integrate multiple AI-based motion, sound and other AI use cases based on SensiML’s AI Software Platform, which already has native support for the development kit.

Microchip announced a new reference design using its MCP1012 high voltage auxiliary AC-DC controller, demonstrating the ability to remove the independent bias power supply in many applications. The MCP1012 offline auxiliary device enables the system to transfer control of the power and duty cycle to a secondary MCU. The reference design includes a patented isolation technique called Inde-Flux transformer technology being licensed to Würth Elektronik eiSos.
