xMEMS Achieves Extended Bass Response, Making ANC Applications Possible From a Single MEMS Driver

The new Cypress MEMS speaker from xMEMS Labs achieves 40X louder bass response on a single monolithic, miniaturized device, achieving well above the 130dB SPL at low frequencies, required for ANC implementations on TWS earbuds. The new xMEMS Cypress achieves this groundbreaking performance by using ultrasound technology. The new development will be demonstrated at CES 2024 by appointment only, with mass production scheduled for late-2024.

Semiconductor pioneer xMEMS Labs announced the launch of xMEMS Live – China 2023, a two-day seminar aimed at demonstrating the company's technology for Chinese consumer tech and audio brands through product demos, keynotes and in-depth tech-talk presentations. The seminars will take place September 18 at the Renaissance Caohejing Hotel in Shanghai, and on September 20 at the Westin Nanshan in Shenzhen. The seminar signal xMEMS significant expansion throughout Asia, North America, and Europe.

Part of xMEMS Labs announcements at CES 2023, the innovative MEMS speaker company introduced Skyline, the world’s first discrete solid-state MEMS DynamicVent, a specific design with a valve that opens or closes by sensor fusion input from the earbud DSP and enables the benefits of both an open-fit (spatially aware) and closed-fit (occluded) earbud design. This enables smart TWS earbuds and hearing aids that create best-of-both-worlds user experiences in the same product.

xMEMS Announces Cowell Microspeaker for TWS and Hearing Aid Applications

xMEMS Labs today introduced Cowell, the world’s smallest monolithic MEMS µspeaker, targeting the replacement of balanced armature drivers in true wireless earbuds and hearing aid designs. At just 22mm3, 56 milligrams, and with a 3.2mm diameter side-firing package, Cowell delivers an impressive 110dB SPL at 1kHz. Cowell is the first speaker to use xMEMS’ 2nd generation M2 speaker cell architecture offering improved SPL/mm2 enabling increased loudness in smaller form factors.
