Skyworks Powers Wireless Audio Connectivity Applications on Sonos New Amp

Skyworks Solutions announced that its wireless engines are delivering connectivity in Sonos’ new versatile digital amplifier, the Amp. Specifically, Sonos is leveraging several of Skyworks’ front-end solutions to facilitate robust Wi-Fi communications allowing users to effortlessly transmit high-quality sound throughout the home with their mobile phones. With the surge in connected devices across the Internet of Things (IoT), wireless capability has become the critical link for many applications.

Amazon announced an all-new Alexa feature that allows users to control and synchronize music streaming across multiple Amazon Echo devices in the home. Not only target music to a specific Amazon device or a group of devices - such as the Dot, Echo Show, and regular Echo speaker - but also reach third-party AVS devices. New Alexa Developer Tools to extend the ability to control multi-room music on other connected audio systems using voice commands will be available in 2018.

MediaTek announced the world's first 4x4 802.11n and Bluetooth 5.0 system-on-chip featuring a dedicated Wi-Fi network accelerator. The MediaTek MT7622 was created for premium networking devices including routers and repeaters, whole home Wi-Fi, and home automation gateways that pre-integrates audio and storage features. MediaTek also announced its next generation Wi-Fi low power chipset portfolio for connected smart home devices.

Libre Wireless Technologies announced its next generation LS5B and LS6B WiFi based music streaming modules. Libre’s new turnkey LibreSync WiFi module solutions feature full 24bit 96kHz/192kHz high resolution audio together with Libre’s DDMS synchronized indoor/outdoor direct multinode streaming technology, enabling entry level/mainstream wireless speaker and audio products.
