Vesper Launches 2nd Generation Smart Piezoelectric Voice Accelerometer with ZeroPower Sensing

Vesper continues to redefine its range of MEMS solutions for voice applications with the launch of the VA1210, Vesper’s 2nd generation analog piezoelectric smart voice accelerometer. The VA1210 offers higher sensitivity (+17 dB) and higher (+6 dB) SNR than the 1st generation VA1200 in voice pickup. Additionally, new intelligent features of Wake-on-Voice (WoV) and hardware voice activity detection (HVAD), introduced into the VA1210, enable a drastic improvement of voice quality True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds.

Like the previous conference that was held in 2016 in Aalborg, Denmark, the Audio Engineering Society (AES) Headphone Technology Conference in San Francisco, was a very successful and insightful event for all the participants. The Presidio park venue was also idyllic with the usual crisp waterfront weather. Perhaps too successful, as the event was sold out before it opened.

Vesper launched its newest, high performance, low power digital piezoelectric MEMS microphone for smart speakers: the VM3000. According to the Boston-based company, this new MEMS microphone is also the most robust and reliable for consumer products. Enabling widespread use of piezo microphones in applications such as smart speakers, headsets, hearables, TV remote controls, smart home appliances and smartphones (just to name a few), the VM3000 extends Vesper’s portfolio in consumer electronics.

Vesper has launched VM1010, the first wake-on-sound MEMS microphone that consumes nearly zero power — allowing consumers to voice-activate battery-powered smart speakers, smart earbuds and TV remotes without draining the battery. The inaugural member of Vesper’s ZeroPower Listening MEMS microphone product line, VM1010 is a tiny, ultra-rugged piezoelectric MEMS microphone.

During CES 2017, Vesper, together with DSP Group and Sensory, have demonstrated a turnkey development platform that boasts the lowest overall power consumption for far-field always-listening voice interfaces. At CES 2017, DSP Group also unveiled its new DBMD5 audio SoC built to drive clearer human-machine voice interactions.
