Silicon Mitus Single-Chip Buck-Boost USB Type-C Charger Adds Power Efficiency and Saves PCB Space

Silicon Mitus, an advanced specialist in Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) and audio semiconductor solutions, announced the launch of its SM58IP04 device, a single-chip buck-boost USB Type-C Narrow VDC (NVDC) charger targeting 2S/3S and 4S battery applications that take full advantage of the new USB Type-C features embedded in the latest PD3.0 specifications such as PPS and Fast Role Swap.

Texas Instruments (TI), a founding member of the USB Implementers Forum, introduced two new USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery (PD) controllers, with fully integrated power paths to simplify designs, minimize solution size and speed time to market. The TPS65987D and TPS65988 controllers enable higher power in dual- and single-port applications, and offer system designers the industry's highest level of integration which can reduce design complexity and overall cost.

Alpha and Omega Semiconductor, a global supplier of a broad range of power semiconductors and power ICs, announced a new Type-C Power Delivery compliant input protection switch with up to 28V over-voltage protection. The AOZ1376 is a smart protection switch with reverse current blocking capability intended for applications where internal circuitry requires protection from exposure to high voltages.
