xMEMS Labs and Merry Electronics Showcase Two-Way Headphone Reference Design at CES 2025

Underscoring the potential of solid-state MEMS microspeakers over-the-ear headphones, xMEMS Labs and Merry Electronics announced they will demonstrate a new production-ready reference design at CES 2025. Targeting both premium wireless over-the-ear headphones and gaming applications, Merry highlights xMEMS’ patented 2-way module architecture as a way to improve spatial audio accuracy and reduce weight for gamers, among other benefits.

DSP Concepts announced it has added delResearch's AirModem to the Audio Weaver feature set. AirModem offers a secure wireless alternative to Bluetooth and allows for two-way data transfer between phones, computers, and other connected devices without the need for specialized hardware: just speakers and microphones. AirModem packages years of sophisticated software research and development into a plug-and-play solution that can be added to any smart product design instantly with Audio Weaver.

Hypex introduces the NCAS500MP. The first member of an all new NCORE family of amplifiers specifically designed for 2-way Active Speakers. From Pro-Audio solutions, High-End HiFi speakers to Studio monitors, with the proven NCORE technology the NCAS500MP can be used for all active speaker designs. With a power rating of 400 + 100W in 8 ohm it is very powerful for its size.

Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) launched the AK1574, a fractional-N PLL synthesizer with a Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) for frequency modulation, able to replace variable capacitance diode configurations. Targeting professional, portable, radio transmission systems, the built-in VCO supports from 46.875 to 1682.5MHz, saves space, has low-phase noise, and low-power consumption. Uses include two-way radios in the VCO configuration with a variable capacitance diode and a winding coil, with support for diversity receivers.
