Fraunhofer Cingo and upHear Now Integrated with Tymphany's Peerless Flow DSP

The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS), headquartered in Erlangen, Germany, and Tymphany have partnered to provide state-of-the-art spatial audio solutions to audio manufacturers. The two companies have worked together to integrate Fraunhofer's audio processing suites and audio technologies into Flow DSP, Tymphany's own DSP platform and design framework which allows creating immersive audio features in new audio products.

DSP Concepts announced that its Audio Weaver development platform for audio products now also offers access to the Fraunhofer Cingo family of immersive processing tools. The agreement with Fraunhofer IIS allows audio product developers to enhance headphones, earbuds and speakers with binaural audio processing for immersive 3D sound with head tracking, as well as enhance existing stereo content, including loudness optimization and equalization. Cingo supports all channel-based formats and direct rendering of audio objects with associated position metadata, which can be transmitted as MPEG-H Audio.

The Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT), the central research and development institute of the public broadcasters in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and DSPECIALISTS GmbH, a company specialized in the development and distribution of products for digital audio signal processing and measurement technology, have established a cooperation agreement focused on high-quality loudness control. DSPECIALISTS already ported the IRT loudness adjustment algorithm to its HARVEY signal processing platform.

Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, the inventor of mp3 and primary developer of the xHE-AAC and MPEG-H Audio standards, announced that NXP Semiconductors has licensed Fraunhofer’s MPEG audio SDK. The complete software package covers four generations of audio codecs, from legacy MPEG Layer-1/2/3 to the next-generation MPEG-H 3D Audio standard and the AAC codec family, including xHE-AAC. NXP will incorporate these codecs in home entertainment product development, from set-top boxes and soundbars to smart speakers.

Maxim Integrated Products introduced the MAX98390 smart amplifier with integrated Dynamic Speaker Management (DSM) algorithm to efficiently deliver louder, clearer, richer sound at the lowest quiescent power in the market. The boosted, digital Class D DSM smart amplifier unleashes a system's full audio potential by safely driving higher power levels (up to 5.1W) into tiny speakers typically rated for much lower power between 1 to 3W.

G-Audio, a next generation audio technology company dedicated to enhancing the listening experience for Extended-Reality (XR) and streaming media, launched its Sol Loudness SDK for streaming services, adding to its existing Sol SDK spatial audio rendering for 360° video. This new software solution smooths variations in loudness and provides continuity of perceived sound levels for OTT video and music streaming platforms, allowing platforms to provide a better audio experience for its subscribers.
