TDK Unveils New Ultra-High AOP Analog MEMS Microphone Ideal for Noisy Environments

TDK Corporation introduced the InvenSense ICS-40638 MEMS analog microphone, a new high-performance solution enabling clear audio capture in loud and noisy conditions, with an extended frequency response from 35 Hz to 20kHz. The ICS-40638 microphone offers an ultra-high Acoustic Overload Point (AOP) of 138 dB Sound Pressure Level (SPL), exceptionally efficient 170 µA low power operation and high Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) of 63 dB in a small 3.5 mm x 2.65 mm x 0.98 mm bottom port surface‐mount package.

DSP Concepts announced that TalkTo, its suite of proprietary microphone processing algorithms that use adaptive learning technology to deliver a quiet-room experience in noisy and unpredictable environments, has been qualified by Amazon for Alexa built-in devices using Alexa Voice Service (AVS). This enables more hardware brands to easily build Alexa built-in devices that will perform well even in noisy situations, thanks to TalkTo’s leading sound cancellation technology.

SoundChip, a Swiss-based provider or audio processing solutions, unveiled Aurora – an application-specific, low-power, hybrid noise cancelling platform for next-generation True Wireless Stereo (TWS) headsets. According to the company, Aurora delivers up to 35dB of class-leading digitally-programmable feed-forward and feedback (hybrid) noise cancelling, as well as a swathe of software-controlled features, including multi-mode noise cancelling, digitally configurable occlusion control, and situational awareness.
