Cirrus Logic Unveils Latest Family of Professional Audio Digital-to-Analog Converters and CODEC Products

Cirrus Logic unveiled a new series of digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and an ultra-high performance audio CODEC, that cater to the needs of recording artists, live performers, and even audio enthusiasts. Setting a new standard for the prosumer and professional audio markets, the new CS4308P, CS4304P, CS4302P DACs and CS4282P CODEC expand on last year's successful analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) launch, and deliver transparent audio conversion to ensure recording and playback without any compromise in sound quality.

Cirrus Logic announced a newly rearchitected family of converters targeting professional audio applications, combining superior performance, low power consumption and system-level enhancements to solve common industry audio problems, such as a new hybrid gain control. The first three products available are 2-, 4- and 8-channel ADCs ready to be easily implemented in demanding applications, from digital mixers and USB audio interfaces, all the way to automotive applications.

Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) has resumed sample shipments of 13 Velvet Sound D/A converters (DAC) and A/D converters (ADC) products - all part of a new generation of improved devices. The samples start shipping in January 2022. Mass production is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022. The new range of devices include new 115dB and 768kHz 32-bit DACs in 2, 4, 6, and 8-channel models, plus nine new 32-bit ADCs in 2, 4, and 8 channel models including the AK5522 ADC, ideal for bus-powered USB audio interfaces.

German company SEGGER introduced audio class support for its emUSB-Device, a high-performance USB device stack specifically designed for embedded systems. Any audio application may now be realized, such as devices for conferencing systems, speakerphones, headphones or USB-to-audio adapters. If the target device incorporates or attaches to microphones, speakers, headsets, and/or musical instruments, the USB interface is often an ideal way to stream the audio data to or from the host.
