Silicon Labs Extends Portfolio for Matter and Wi-Fi at Developer Conference

Silicon Labs announced a slate of new multiprotocol connectivity products that are driven by interoperability, advancing innovations in the Internet of Things and Smart Home, including Matter and Wi-Fi 6. Standing out among the announcements is the new low power SiWx917 Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth LE combination SoC that Silicon Labs says is Matter-ready. The SoC includes an integrated applications processor, and is ideal for battery-powered or energy-efficient connected devices with always-on cloud connectivity.

Murata has launched the world’s smallest ultra-wideband (UWB) module – measuring just 10.5 mm × 8.3 mm × 1.44 mm – that combines elevated levels of accuracy and reliability with low-power to ensure compact and battery-driven connected devices operate as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. Using short-range radio frequency (RF) technology, the Type 2AB UWB + Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) connectivity module can be used in a wide variety of applications where precise detection is essential.

Swiss company u‑blox, a global provider of positioning and wireless communication technologies, announced it acquired Rigado’s Bluetooth modules business in an Asset Purchase Agreement. Rigado is an Oregon-based provider of Edge‑as‑a-Service gateway solutions for Commercial IoT applications, and began offering certified wireless modules in 2015, implementing Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52840 Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) SoC.
