EPC Introduces 12V – 48V 500W GaN Boost Converter in Collaboration With Renesas

EPC announced the availability of the EPC9166, a 500W DC-DC demo board that converts a 12V input to 48V output. The EPC9166 demo board demonstrates the Renesas ISL81807 80V two-phase synchronous boost controller with the latest generation EPC2218 eGaN FETs from EPC to achieve greater than 96.5% efficiency in a 12V input to 48V regulated output conversion with 500kHz switching frequency. The output voltage can be configured to 36V, 48V, and 60V. The board can deliver 480W power without a heatsink.

Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) introduced the first of a new integrated circuit (IC) product family offering higher performance and smaller solution size for high power density applications including DC-DC conversion, motor drive, and Class-D audio amplifiers. EPC announced an 80 V, 12.5 A power stage integrated circuit designed for 48 V DC-DC conversion. The EPC2152 is a single-chip driver plus eGaN FET half-bridge power stage using EPC’s proprietary GaN IC technology.

Microchip Technology announced availability of its updated MPLAB Mindi analog simulation software, now including more models and features. The circuit simulation tool now supports more than 300 Microchip analog products, with SIMetrix’s enhanced SPICE (Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis) and SIMPLIS Technologies’ SIMPLIS (SIMulation of Piecewise LInear Systems) simulation environments.

Toshiba America Electronic Components, announced the addition of two new N-channel devices to its U-MOS IX-H family of high-efficiency, high-speed switching MOSFETs. Delivering best-in-class efficiency across a range of load conditions, Toshiba’s new MOSFETs feature U-MOS IX-H technology, which ensures stable operation also over a wide range of temperatures.
