Magnachip Introduces High-Performance Synchronous Boost Converter for Battery-Powered Speakers

Magnachip Semiconductor Corporation has released a synchronous boost converter with a new architecture of high-side and low-side switches that achieves a high efficiency to support for a variety of applications, including Bluetooth speakers and other battery-operated devices. The new synchronous boost converter is equipped with a fast transient response to reduce output voltage fluctuations in a short response time for stable power supply, making it ideally suited for devices which can exhibit significant current variations.

Maxim Integrated Products, unveiled the MAX98396 Class D/G speaker amplifier which the company claims to have the industry's lowest noise and lowest quiescent power consumption, nearly 50-percent lower power than similar amplifiers. The 20V digital input MAX98396 amplifier provides speakers with an inaudible noise floor, enabling placement in near-silent environments and offers 12.7mW of quiescent power to meet power compliance regulations for always-on portable Bluetooth and smart speakers.

Microchip introduced the new BM83 SoC, a Bluetooth 5.0 certified dual-mode audio module that contains an on-board Bluetooth stack and audio profiles and supports 24-bit/96kHz high-resolution audio formats to enable high-fidelity wireless audio, including support for Sony’s high fidelity LDAC codec. The combined solution is intended for both new speaker and headphone designs, offering differentiated features.

Synaptics announced its AudioSmart far-field voice DSPs have been selected by Baidu, the leading Chinese language Internet search provider, for its new DuerOS Mobile Accessory (DMA) platform recently announced at the Baidu Create 2018 AI Developer Conference. Market applications enabled by combining Synaptics' low-power far-field voice DSP, with a Bluetooth connectivity IC and DuerOS, Baidu’s conversational AI system, includes a wide-variety of on-the-go products including Bluetooth speakers, headphones, wearables and automotive accessories.
