Nordic Launches Apple Find My Network Compatible Software Development Kit

Nordic Semiconductor announced the availability of its Apple Find My network compatible Software Development Kit (SDK). The SDK enables manufacturers and brands to easily build Find My network capable Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) devices that maximize battery performance leveraging Nordic’s nRF52 or nRF53 Series System-on-Chip's (SoC) ultra-low power consumption.

Skyworks Solutions announced it signed a definitive agreement to purchase Avnera Corporation, the developer of Analog System on Chips (ASoCs) and one of the main technology providers for audio development in the areas of analog/mixed signal audio, voice and speech processing engines. Avnera solutions are used by many reputed consumer electronics brands for all wireless audio applications as well as Bluetooth, Lightning and USB-C product development.

Microchip's new Wi-Fi SDK with Apple HomeKit support enables MFi licensees to create fast, low-power designs on the industry’s first hardware cryptography-enabled Wi-Fi-based development kit for HomeKit. The SDK leverages hardware-based calculations to create fast, low-power solutions, providing an optimized customer experience that dramatically reduces execution time for HomeKit commands and provides pairing speeds of less than one tenth of a second.

Silicon Labs has introduced a Bluetooth software solution that enables developers to efficiently create Apple HomeKit-enabled accessories. Silicon Labs’ Bluetooth solution with HomeKit support is pre-tested by Apple. Available as a library with clean, easy-to-use APIs, the Bluetooth 4.2-compliant software is pre-tested and certified by Apple to provide accessory developers with a low-risk solution that accelerates time-to-market.

With the market preparing for a major transition to digital audio connections using USB-C and Apple Lightning interfaces, audio companies are faced with a dilemma. Either they wait until the USB Implementers Forum finishes and publishes its final USB class audio specification for USB 3.1, or they start developing for Lightning-based systems, knowing that they will have an head-start and products on the market (at least for Apple’s platforms). Knowing this, Cirrus Logic just announced a new MFi Headset Development Kit that simplifies design of Lightning-based audio accessories.
