Analog Devices is now sampling its latest audio processor and low power ANC codec, the ADAU1797. This high-performance device with integrated HiFi 3z and FastDSP cores is able to efficiently support front-end audio processing with beamforming and noise reduction, as well as neural network-assisted speech recognition (ASR) processing. This article explains the new hybrid gain control (HGC) feature of Cirrus Logic’s latest CS530xP family of Pro Audio ADCs and how these can eliminate noise problems when changing gain on digitally controlled mic preamps. This solution enables fine-resolution mic preamp gain control, with the feel of a traditional potentiometer but without audible pops or zipper noise by integrating control into the ADC, together with zero-cross detection and precisely synchronized digital gain control.

AKM Launches AK5705 Low Power 4-Channel 32-bit A/D Converter

Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) has developed the AK5705, a low power consumption 4-channel 32-bit A/D converter (ADC) with a built-in transimpedance amplifier in addition to a low-noise microphone amplifier. The new AKM the AK5705 ADC is connectable to current output sensors, supports a sampling frequency of 384kHz, and achieves a dynamic range of 109dB, while consuming 43% less power than existing AKM products. The built-in AC coupling capacitor significantly reduces the mounting area including external components.

Cirrus Logic Unveils New Pro Audio Family of AD/DA Converters

Cirrus Logic announced a newly rearchitected family of converters targeting professional audio applications, combining superior performance, low power consumption and system-level enhancements to solve common industry audio problems, such as a new hybrid gain control. The first three products available are 2-, 4- and 8-channel ADCs ready to be easily implemented in demanding applications, from digital mixers and USB audio interfaces, all the way to automotive applications.

AKM Resumes Sample Shipments of 13 Velvet Sound DAC/ADC Products

Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) has resumed sample shipments of 13 Velvet Sound D/A converters (DAC) and A/D converters (ADC) products - all part of a new generation of improved devices. The samples start shipping in January 2022. Mass production is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022. The new range of devices include new 115dB and 768kHz 32-bit DACs in 2, 4, 6, and 8-channel models, plus nine new 32-bit ADCs in 2, 4, and 8 channel models including the AK5522 ADC, ideal for bus-powered USB audio interfaces.
