NXP Introduces i.MX 8M Processor to Transform IoT Audio, Voice and Video Interactions

At CES 2017, NXP Semiconductors (now part of Qualcomm) introduced its new i.MX 8M family of applications processors specifically designed to meet increasing audio and video system requirements for smart home and smart mobility applications such as over-the-top (OTT) set-top boxes, digital media adapters, surround sound, sound bars, A/V receivers, voice control, voice assistance, digital signage and general purpose human machine interface (HMI) solutions.

Cadence Design Systems announced immediate availability of the next-generation MPEG-H Audio decoder based on Cadence Tensilica HiFi DSPs. MPEG-H Audio is a future broadcast standard and is expected to be one of the key audio technologies adopted worldwide for new TVs. Through close collaboration with Fraunhofer, one of the developers of the open ISO MPEG-H Audio standard, Cadence is first to market with an implementation for a licensable DSP.

Graphics technology provider, DisplayLink, announced a world first, connecting Four 4K p60 Ultra HD Monitors via a single USB connection at Computex 2016 using their latest DL-6000 series Docking Chipset. With this demonstration, DisplayLink introduces hardware and software solutions to enable easy connectivity between monitors and computing devices over standard USB interfaces.
