New Qualcomm S3 Gen 3 and Qualcomm S5 Gen 3 Sound Platforms Dramatically Expand Options for Mid-Tier Designs

Qualcomm Technologies International announced the new Qualcomm S3 Gen 3 and Qualcomm S5 Gen 3 Sound Platforms, designed to allow OEMs deliver sound experiences never before possible at the S5 and S3 tiers. All Gen 3 devices support Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast. The mid-tier S3 Gen 3 Sound Platform now allows customizations via 3rd party solutions from the Qualcomm Voice & Music Extension Program. And now there is a new quality option with aptX Lossless at 24-bit/48kHz.

Nordic Semiconductor has revealed that Yinzida Technology, a consumer electronics manufacturer, has designed a 2.4GHz wireless audio transmission module that enables high fidelity wireless audio in applications such as microphones, musical instruments or audio headsets. This out-of-the-box, lossless and stable wireless audio solution is ideal for battery-powered designs with zero-delay DSP pipeline, using Nordic's nRF52832 SoC in both transmitter and receiver.

Summit Wireless Technologies, announced that Hansong, one of the largest Original Design Manufacturers (ODM) to major audio brands, will offer a new technology reference platform targeting wireless soundbars, audio hubs, and speakers based on Summit's Internet of Things (IoT) transceiver module. The new Hansong development platform will offer a ready to use solution for high-volume projects in the home theater market.

Qualcomm has launched Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, a next-generation audio codec designed to be dynamically adjustable. The breakthrough audio codec technology combines robustness, premium audio quality, scalability and low-latency designed to provide a single flexible solution for virtually all key wireless audio applications. Effectively, it combines the features of low-latency aptX, aptX, or aptX HD, depending on the content and the connectivity.
