AKM Develops New 32-bit D/A Converter with Headphone Amplifier and DSD Support

Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) has developed a 32-bit stereo D/A converter with headphone amplifier, the AK4377, enabling playback of DSD sound sources in smartphones or portable music players. The new advanced stereo D/A converter uses AKM's Velvet Sound architecture, delivering improved audio performance with a THD+N of -109dB, and offers support for DSD inputs up to DSD256.

Shure announced the introduction of the KSE1200 Electrostatic Earphone System, a premium, portable audio-amplification solution for consumers of high-resolution audio. The new model is based on the KSE1500 — the world’s-first Sound Isolating electrostatic earphone system previously released by Shure — but featuring only the analog input for use with premium audio players. By removing the USB input and integrated DAC and DSP, Shure was able to make the KSE1200 considerably more affordable.

Tang Band was founded in 1996 in Taiwan with the goal of manufacturing innovative, high-quality drivers. The transducer Tang Band sent to Voice Coil to review certainly lives up to that goal. The T1-1942S is a seriously creative new transducer, and it immediately caught my eye when I saw it on Tang Band’s website. RHA Unveils its First DAC/Headphone Amplifier Alongside Two In-Ear Headphones at IFA 2016

British audio specialist RHA has announced that it will launch three new products as part of a collection of high-resolution personal audio equipment at IFA 2016. The new range includes the company’s first portable DAC and headphone amplifier, the Dacamp L1, and two high-resolution in-ear headphones, the flagship CL1 Ceramic and the stainless steel CL750. All three products will be available to audition at IFA 2016 in Berlin from 2-7 September, ahead of going on sale in October 2016.
