Apogee Electronics Announces MiC 96k for Windows and Mac

USB microphones are not considered alternatives to established standard professional microphones, but they already managed to carve a market niche for its convenience in applications like podcasting and voice-overs. The popularity of mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad have opened that market to more sophisticated and practical alternatives, such as the Apogee MiC, a USB/iOS condenser microphone with cardioid pickup pattern, and built-in preamp with gain control. Now Apogee announced the MiC 96k, also compatible for Windows 10, apart from Mac.

Zoom unveiled the new H4n Pro Handy Recorder, featuring advanced microphones, high-performance mic preamps, and an extremely low noise floor, among the improved features and specifications. The Zoom H4n Pro is a high-quality four-track audio recorder and USB audio interface, ideal for music, film, and podcasting applications.

At Prolight+Sound in Frankfurt, Sennheiser previewed the new digital version of its MK 4, now using high-quality Apogee A/D conversion and mic preamp technology to connect directly to iOS devices, Mac and PC computers. The large-diaphragm MK 4 digital is the ideal partner for any mobile recording task requiring great sound quality with the typical warmth and detail of a true condenser microphone.

Imagination Technologies announced that Pioneer has licensed its FlowRadio internet radio service for its in-car entertainment app program. The internet radio and podcast content delivered by FlowRadio will be available through Pioneer’s AppRadioLIVE app as a one-off in-app purchase called the Pioneer Radio Collection.

Audio-Technica started shipping the newest iteration of its AT2020USB cardioid condenser microphone featuring 24-bit/96 kHz recording, and compatibility with iOS, Windows and Mac OS X. Microphone manufacturers hope this type of proposition will be more appealing for direct recording on mobile devices.
