LG Electronics and Audioburst Collaborate to Build Audio Content Voice Search In-Car

LG Electronics and California-based Audioburst announced a collaboration to build the next cutting-edge in-car infotainment systems for leading automakers, giving consumers new ways to access and explore voice search and content, and brands deeper analysis around that usage in-car. LGE will be the first company to integrate Audioburst Deep Analysis API for Live Audio Streams. The experience, still in stealth mode, will be unveiled in January to select audiences at CES 2019 in Las Vegas.

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) announced the publication of new SMPTE ST 2098 standards for immersive audio, in a effort to simplify distribution of immersive audio, ensure smooth and consistent playout on various immersive sound systems. The Society has published ST 2098-1:2018, Immersive Audio Metadata; ST 2098-2:2018, Immersive Audio Bitstream Specification; and ST 2098-5:2018, D-Cinema Immersive Audio Channels and Soundfield Groups.

EBU and Fraunhofer IIS Conducted Live MPEG-H Audio Production Trial at Eurovision Song Contest 2018

The European Broadcasting Union EBU and Fraunhofer IIS have successfully conducted the first trial for live production of immersive and interactive sound using the MPEG-H TV Audio System at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in Lisbon, Portugal. For the trial, the Fraunhofer sound engineers installed a height dimension to the impressive microphone setup in the Altice Arena, enabling them to produce an immersive and personalized audio mix live. Broadcasters and sound experts present at the venue could experience the enveloping and interactive MPEG-H sound.
