Edifier just unveiled its STAX Spirit S5 Wireless Planar magnetic headphones, its second product since it acquired the famous brand. The STAX Spirit S5 improves on the quality of the audio experience with its 2nd gen EqualMass wiring technology, 2μm thin film and a new calibration approach of the planar drivers, which Edifier say achieve a performance comparable to legendary electrostatic headphones. Based on the Qualcomm QCC5181 Snapdragon Sound Bluetooth audio SoC, the new Spirit S5 headphones also deliver an expanded range of wireless audio options.

The new LHDC ONE Hi-Res Bluetooth Audio Transmitter converts audio from any USB-C audio source, and streams it using the low latency and high resolution audio codec promoted by Savitech and the HWA Alliance. Comparing to the Bluetooth SBC audio format, LHDC allows more than 3 times the data transmitted, transmitting 24-bit/96kHz audio at 900 kbps.

Japan Audio Society Certifies New MQA SCL6 Scalable Codec for Hi-Res Audio Wireless Applications

Japan Audio Society (JAS), the internationally respected audio research organization, has certified MQA's new SCL6 scalable codec for use with its Hi-Res Audio Wireless logo. This new codec carries the technical name of SCL6 and is coming to market as MQair. In the announcement, JAS confirmed that both the new SCL6 (MQA) and LC3plus (Fraunhofer IIS) codecs will receive this new level of certification, created specifically for wireless audio, and expanding the existing Hi-Res Audio certification.
