IKEA and Spotify Unveil VAPPEBY Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker Lamp

It's no big secret that IKEA and Spotify are from Sweden, and a collaboration between the two Swedish companies on a Bluetooth speaker would not come as a surprise. But effectively, IKEA has done speakers before and the company has mainly worked with Sonos on two very successful products for whole home audio. Now, IKEA finally confirmed a project with Spotify for a new Bluetooth situational speaker and lamp named VAPPEBY, available from April 2022.

In 2019, IKEA and Sonos announced the joint development of the SYMFONISK wireless speaker range, with two inaugural products. While the SYMFONISK bookshelf speaker offered a great connected multi-functional design at an affordable price, the original SYMFONISK table lamp speaker was not so successful. Two years later, IKEA and Sonos are launching a new version of the SYMFONISK table lamp speaker, offering a better sound experience and updated, customizable designs.

The story was already confirmed for some time, but Sonos and IKEA have finally revealed the results of its joint project, designed to reimagine the smart home, Scandinavian style. As Sonos describes it, "Sound is a powerful mood booster, as important to the atmosphere at home as any rug, or art piece, or sofa. Setting out to make great sound available for everyone, IKEA and Sonos now present the first products in the SYMFONISK range – one being our loudest table lamp ever."
