Fresh From the Bench: Illusonic IAP 8 Advanced Audio Processor and Preamplifier

The Illusonic IAP 8 is an advanced multichannel audio processor and preamplifier with HDMI. It does a whole lot more, but for this audioXpress review Philipp P. Continuing to explore automotive audio design and applications, the Audio Product Education Institute (APEI) is promoting a new webinar addressing remote sound tuning of the in-vehicle acoustics and sound systems. In the session, this Wednesday, June 9 (12:00 PM Eastern), Roger Shively (JJR Acoustics) APEI's Automotive Pillar Chair will welcome presentations and a panel discussion with four automotive industry experts, discussing their experiences with demonstrations of the methods used.

The AES Audio Product Education Institute (APEI), an initiative launched in January 2020 by the Audio Engineering Society, will promote a strong sequence of weekly online sessions in June 2021. The first event is already June 2, and focuses on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, followed by sessions on Automotive Audio, Modeling and Measurement, and Supply Chain and Sourcing.

The Audio Product Education Institute (APEI), will host the first of a series of webinars on Automotive Audio on Tuesday, January 19 (12:00pm EST). Titled “Direct Validation of Computational Acoustic Results for Automotive Cabin Simulations,” the webinar will explore automotive sound system implementation and design in a program presented by APEI's Automotive Pillar Chair Roger Shively ( JJR Acoustics) with presentations by industry experts Mads Herring Jensen (COMSOL) and Christof Faller (Illusonic).

German microphone manufacturer Schoeps announced a new set of two software plug-ins which will be an ideal complement for creative microphone use, now available via the online software distributor Plugin Alliance. The first is the Double MS plugin, which decodes a Double MS microphone setup to a stereophonic signal. Available for AAX, VST3 and AU formats, this free plug-in takes 3 microphone signals and provides a 2.0 Stereo or 5.0 Surround output using an algorithm developed by Swiss audio processing specialist Illusonic. The second is the Mono Upmix plugin that turns a mono signal into a pleasantly open sounding stereophonic or LCR signal.
