Test Bench: Wavecor’s TW045WA01 Coaxial Cloth Dome/Ceramic Cone Tweeter

This Test Bench characterizes the innovative TW045WA01 dual-diaphragm coaxial tweeter from Wavecor. This driver's dual-diaphragm assembly combines a 22mm coated textile dome for high-frequency extension and a 45mm ceramic/aluminum cone, which adds low-frequency output and efficiency. The hybrid design incorporates a dual neodymium magnet motor structure and sculpted foam damping ring attached to the faceplate. A very unique driver that is certain to appear in new two-channel high-end audio loudspeakers.

After 25 years of designing, crafting and manufacturing high-end audio components, the founders of Audia Flight in Italy couldn't resist the temptation to design their own speakers. Following an original design created for testing their own audio amplifier circuits, which after ten years remains in use in their lab, the company decided it was time to create a new high end loudspeaker brand, Alare. And the company introduced Remiga 2, their first product now available.

The samples for this Test Bench came from respected German home/car audio OEM transducer manufacturer Accuton. I received the Accuton C30-6-358, its new “Cell Concept” neodymium motor ceramic diaphragm 30 mm tweeter. The Accuton C30-6-358 is an interesting tweeter for several reasons.
