Audinate Updates Dante Via to 1.1 Adding Multichannel and ASIO Support

Audinate, the company responsible for the Dante audio networking technology, has announced the immediate worldwide availability of Dante Via version 1.1, a major update to its audio networking software. With the update, Audinate increased audio networking application support to 16x16 channels, and added ASIO device support, adjustable source mixes and new Device Lock protection.

German loudspeaker systems manufacturer, d&b audiotechnik, has announced it has joined the AVnu Alliance, the industry consortium that fosters the adoption of AVB/TSN (Audio Video Bridging/Time Sensitive Networking) protocols and an open ecosystem of certified products. The announcement comes in the wake of a strong momentum for AVB/TSN IEEE 802.1 standards at the recent InfoComm 2016 show.

Audinate Updates Dante Controller and Introduces Wi-Fi Support

Audinate announced an update to Dante Controller, the free software tool available for Windows and Mac OS X, used to configure and manage Dante audio networks. Dante Controller 3.10 brings new features like adding wireless support, advanced filtering and Device Lock features, allowing users to better manage larger networks with more high channel-count devices. The update also enables Dante Controller to take full advantage of upcoming firmware changes.

Avid Announces new 5.2 Software for its Venue S6L Live Sound Mixer and New Dante Option Card

Things move slowly at Avid, but they move. Announced at Prolight+Sound 2015 in Frankfurt, the DNT-192 Dante Option Card for the Avid Venue S6L digital live sound mixer, is now available one year after the promised shipping date. The Venue S6L started shipping end of 2015 and now receives a new free software update (5.2), which adds support for Dante network connectivity, as required by the industry, apart from several other “highly anticipated” features.

InfoComm 2016 was an important opportunity for the AVnu Alliance to reinforce the work being done around IEEE 802.1 Audio Video Bridging (AVB) and Time Sensitive Network (TSN) standards, with new companies joining the consortium, introduction of new reference platforms and tools, and Cisco finally introducing AVB-enabled switches. More importantly, Coveloz promoted a demonstration of deterministic network control of AES67 audio transport running over an Ethernet AVB foundation.
