Seen for the first time at the 141st Audio Engineering Society Convention in Los Angeles, IsoAcoustics’s new Aperta 300 speaker isolation stands expand the acclaimed Aperta series, designed to support center channel speakers or studio monitors in horizontal configuration, providing a wider base and supporting up to 60lbs (27.2kg). Also new from the Canadian company are the new GAIA speaker isolation feet, designed using IsoAcoustics patented isolation principles, replacing existing ball-casters, cones and spikes in high-end speakers.

Audio over IP Expert Nicolas Sturmel Joins Merging Technologies as Senior Technologist

Merging Technologies announced that Nicolas Sturmel has joined the company on November 1st 2016. He was previously Project Manager and Head of Research at Digigram investigating future platforms and innovative solutions for audio and video broadcasting; a position he held from 2012. Sturmel gained a Ph.D in signal processing and information technology from the University of Paris Sud Orsay. Prior to that, he was working in the music production world with a two-year spell as assistant sound engineer.

AES Releases Preliminary Loudness Guidelines for Over the Top Television and Video Streaming

The Audio Engineering Society’s Audio Guidelines for Over the Top Television and Video Streaming (AGOTTVS) technical group was formed in early 2016 to study the many issues related to audio loudness variations in distributed video content. After four-and-a-half months of work by 50 members, the group has announced the publication of preliminary guidelines.

Finnish manufacturer Amphion Loudspeakers is announcing a new product bundle that allows producers and sound engineers to take the Amphion sound with them everywhere they go. The compact One12 studio monitor is now available in a bundle with a pair of Amp100 mono amplifiers and speaker cables, all housed in a sturdy wooden travel case padded to ensure easy and safe transportation. The travel set will be presented at the Audio Engineering Society Convention in Los Angeles.
