The new HOPS10-Pro from CODA Audio is a high output 3-way point source loudspeaker with an advanced design, featuring dual 10” neodymium low distortion woofers to provide power and accuracy across low frequencies, combined with a 1.4" coaxial neodymium midrange and high-frequency ring-diaphragm driver. Test Bench: The Faital Pro 5HX140 5" Pro Sound Coaxial Driver

The 5HX140 5" coaxial driver from Faital Pro is built on a cast-aluminum frame, with a water-resistant coated paper cone and pleated M-type fabric surround, and an acoustically transparent cloth dust cap over the compression driver conical horn. The high-frequency compression driver has its own neodymium ring magnet motor system that drives the 25mm Kapton dome shaped diaphragm, with a voice coil also wound with aluminum wire on a Kapton former. This diaphragm fires into a short 90° aluminum conical-shaped horn.

This patent review looks at a “Loudspeaker with a Wave Guide” (Patent Number: US20140369543) by inventors Jussi Vaisanen and Ilpo Martikainen from Finish company Genelec. This patent relates to the Genelec 8351 Acoustically Coaxial Smart Active Monitor (SAM) monitor, originally launched in 2016. Genelec Announces “The Ones” Series of Compact Coaxial Active Monitors

Genelec introduced it's new-generation studio monitors, basically taking everything that was done for the existing 8351 model and creating a complete range with three sizes. The 8351 is now joined by the smaller 8341 and 8331 monitors. The new series is called "The Ones" because Genelec believes they offer the Ultimate Point Source monitoring solution. According to Genelec’s R&D Director, Aki Mákivirta, this was a long effort to achieve the exact same design precision in the two new monitor sizes.
