The Future of the Loudspeaker Industry at ALMA International Symposium & Expo 2017

The 2016 Audio Engineering Society (AES) International Conference on Headphone Technology took place August 24-26, 2016, in Aalborg, Denmark, at the Nordkraft building - an old power station converted into a mix of community and events center near the city's new music center, Musikkens Hus. Approximately 160 registered participants had the opportunity to attend more than 40 paper and keynote presentations, while 20 companies promoted demonstrations. One of the most successful AES international conferences ever!

Returning from ALMA International Symposium & Expo (AISE) and CES 2016 show in Las Vegas - both extremely enlightening and motivating - we felt motivated to write about high-resolution audio (again). HRA was the main theme chosen for AISE 2016 – “Hi Res Audio: A Bridge To Build Or A Bridge Too Far?” – debated in all possible perspectives in an insightful and constructive manner.

In this article, Steve Temme discusses the issues that are common to testing all types of headphones. As more and more loudspeaker engineers find themselves employed in the fast-growing headphone market, it is important that the unique challenges of testing headphone packages are fully understood.

Mike Klasco interviewed Steve Temme, President of Listen, and asked about the important features and how to get the best performance of test and measurement microphones.
