The Expert Imaging & Sound Association (EISA) revealed the winners of its 2024-2025 Awards. Technical experts from over 56 leading specialist magazines and websites in 27 countries across the world have recognized and awarded the best products in their categories. The 42nd year of the awards recognizes stand-out products in hifi, home theater, mobile and car audio. This year there are again surprises and predictable winners, but also the unexplainable absence of leading products in home audio, personal audio, and particularly in the true wireless category.

Samsung promoted its Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris to unveil its latest range of folding smartphones, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, two new smart watches, and a smart ring. Included in the series of announcements was the unveiling of Samsung's latest Galaxy Buds 3 Series true wireless earbuds, which surprised everyone for the radical departure from its original design in the previous generations. The new Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro now look exactly like the earbud shapes of the AirPods.

This is an interesting patent awarded to Lakshmikanth Tipparaju, Allan Devantier, William Decanio, and Andri Bezzola, on behalf of Samsung Electronics - effectively the audio research team that Samsung created in Valencia, CA. The industry has attempted to achieve a successful implementation of acoustic radiation closely coupled to a boundary surface for omnidirectional and subwoofer applications - unfortunately, mostly plagued by resonances generated by the waveguide or reflector surface. This new approach appears to be an effective solution.

DSP Concepts, the creator of the Audio Weaver development framework that powers sound and voice functionality for many of the world's leading consumer and automotive brands, announced that it is working with Samsung on a new concept product. Introduced at CES 2022, "The Freestyle" is a portable projector with an integrated smart speaker.
